Easy Mark
A weak or gullible person; a person who is easy prey.
There is a line from the movie Malcolm X that goes" Black people, you have been hoodwinked and bamboozled."
I can relate to this because more times than I care to count, I have been deceived by people who preyed on my kindness.
I was considered by some an easy mark to try to scam me out of money and even my time. So many times in life, we try to see the good in others because of the love and kindness we give.
For some reason, when you have a good heart or show any kind of compassion, most people with ill intentions seem to think you are an easy mark.
I have found that sometimes protecting yourself from this type of thing can be truly the best way to keep from being taken advantage of.
Not every person you meet is genuine, and not everyone is honest.
Know the difference in those you have around you, and know that you don't have to be an easy mark.
When something doesn't feel right, ask questions and speak up because sometimes your life or livelihood could depend on it.
Don't be an easy mark for anyone ever!
