Tradition

The transmission of customs or beliefs from one generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in a way.

As the holiday season approaches, this has hit me pretty hard. I come from a family that we were based on tradition. During the holidays, it was the time to bring us together.

Once the matriarch is gone, then the family dynamic is broken, not by choice but by time and distance.

My family was famous in our neighborhood for our holiday get-togethers.

The joy and laughter in the house at 3820 Llewellyn were a true sight to behold.

My grandparents were the best hosts; it was wonderful to see and be a part of.

The stories of my family members' childhood being told around the kitchen table with both family and friends was a much-needed blessing and a joy I can't begin to put into words.

Tradition is now a thing of the past because we've become too busy to stop and enjoy each other every day. When the family lost my Aunt, who was the last in our family who tried to keep our tradition going.

My mother and younger sister will try to hold up the banner of the tradition.

Remember not to let go of family or the tradition your family has.

Hold on tight to your family tradition.
